Diving the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa
The Aliwal Shoal is situated about 5-kms from the small diving town of Umkomaas and is rated as one of the top shark diving sites in the world.
At the Aliwal Shoal our aim is to dive with the many species of sharks found on the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa including
Tiger Sharks, Ragged Tooth Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, Bull Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Guitar Sharks, Whitetip Reef Sharks and more.
Sharks are our main focus and depending on the species we are wanting to see, our dives take place on either the reefs or the wrecks and some of our dives are
baited shark dives. Our baited shark dives take place on the southern end of the Aliwal Shoal and whilst the main focus of the baited dives are the Tiger Sharks,
we also often get other species of shark joining us on the dives including Blacktip Sharks, Dusky Sharks, Bull Sharks and sometimes other species.
The Aliwal Shoal is also home to a huge variety of other marine life including Dolphin, Turtles, Rays, Eels, Game Fish, Reef fish & more. The area
attacts a large number of pelagic fish. We have loads of very special unique species [e.g. Paper Fish].
Water temperature ranges between 23C and 25C during our summer [September to May] and to 20C and 22C in our winter [June to August].
